It's the song that brings ultimate hope to so many…often in the midst of life's most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. Although he found faith at a young age, life wasn't easy for Bart. He leaned into an active imagination and his love of music as escapes from a troubled home life. As he grew older, Bart turned to football in hopes of somehow connecting with his abusive father. But a career-ending injury-combined with the vision of a teacher who saw unlimited potential-set Bart on a musical pathway. Chasing a dream while running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old, decrepit tour bus with his new band MercyMe-named for his grandmother's favorite expression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey none of them could ever have imagined. A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, I Can Only Imagine, beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God's love-or from an eternal home in Heaven.

This movie was awesome! My family and I watched this yesterday and we were all in tears. It was so amazing how God moved in his life and how God changed his father. Only God can do something like that. Great movie!

While this is a Christian based movie (although it doesn’t take a Bible and bash you over the head), this is objectively a great movie. Fantastic acting from Dennis Quaid and the lead actor. Great script and great pacing. I was not expecting much, however I was amazed by this film. Touching.

  • Inspirational!

When a film, a story and faith come together as one, something truly spectacular can occur. “I can only imagine” is just that. And then even more. Yes, I’m late to the game, once again. I didn’t get to see this film in theaters, and had not realized it had been released yet. Like so many of you, MercyMe’s “I can only imagine” has had such an impact on my life. Cliche, I know. But it’s a go to song for me....a million times over. But the story of it all, portrayed on film, is more moving, more impactful, more inspirational than I can ever....well....imagine. I can’t recall a film ever having all my emotions drawn out. Faith, forgiveness and redemption. They each come in all shapes and sizes, for all of us. But for the glory of God and by his mercy, we are all able to have each of them, be each of them, do each of them. If you haven’t seen this film, or know the story behind the song (like myself), you’re truly missing out on something special. It’s simply a priceless film.
