Description

Despite her harsh surroundings, the precocious and ebullient Moonee has no trouble making each day a celebration of life, her endless afternoons overflowing with mischief and grand adventure as she and her ragtag playmates—including Jancey, a new arrival to the area who quickly becomes Moonee’s best friend—fearlessly explore the utterly unique world into which they’ve been thrown. Unbeknownst to Moonee, however, her delicate fantasy is supported by the toil and sacrifice of Halley, who is forced to explore increasingly dangerous possibilities in order to provide for her daughter.

I’m not really sure how I’m suppose to feel about this film. I feel sorry for the little girl, but like most kids they don’t understand what is going on with the grown ups. The actors performance was great because you get confused by who is the bad person here and why is everything so messed up for this mother

I thought this movie was awful - I kept waiting for something to happen. The only story is that some people really shouldn't reproduce. I was very disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. I'd rather get a root canal than watch this movie again.
  • A hot mess with no redeeming value

The trailer is not an accurate portrayal of the film. It's not about the joy of growing up; it's about lack of discipline and self respect that spills into too many lives that don't deserve it. Great performances by Willem and Brooklyn can't save the mess and message of this film: some people shouldn't be parents. And it took nearly two hours of descending, tortuous vignettes - ending with no resolution or hope in sight - to make that point?

Bria Vinaite, Brooklynn Prince and Willem Defoe are absolutely amazing in this movie, a documentary-like slice of life in the cheap motels in the shadow of the Magic Kingdom - a place the denizens of this world can't experience and probably never will. The story focuses on the world of the young children who roam the motel grounds, and the various people they encounter as they and their parents try to get by. The story begins as a series of seemingly unconnected episodes, but gradually the major dramas in the lives of the the main characters come into focus: the young Moonee and her mother, as well as the kind motel manager who is caught between his demanding boss and the needs of the guests to bend the rules. Young Brooklynn Prince has an apparently limitless capacity to charm as she uses her condiderable imagination to amuse herself and her companions. It is astounding to see such a natural and sustained excellence in the acting of a child this young - but she has charisma to spare. Willem Defoe is the moral center of the movie, trying to do his job but also accommodate the needs of the guests in their various struggles. There are no trite family stereotypes and resolutions here - only an unsparing honesty in looking at a side of life in the USA that we often avoid examining - especially in our entertainment. But one comes away feeling more empathy for the inhabitants of this world, and admiring the story, the script, the direction and the acting in this movie. There is even a cameo appearance from three Sandhill Cranes to enjoy, as well as an ending with a real emotional punch. Don't miss this movie.

Such a raw portrayal of the troubled poverty-stricken socioeconomic class in America. Will leave a place in my heart forever. HIGHLY SIMILAR to the 2016 film, American Honey

I hated it. And the end was just as bad.

Most boring movie ever but just knowing how the story shows how some people get through their hard times was interesting.

The Florida Project has is one of those beautiful films that for some reason many will never be able to fully appreciate. I wouldn’t say it’s divisive, just unfortunately misunderstood by the uncultured.
  • Not a story worth telling

Criminal family - abuse - no closure at all - not sure why this was a story worth viewing
