Spider-Man [Tom Holland] begins to navigate his new identity as the web-slinging super hero under the watchful eye of his mentor Tony Stark.
Why is Stark here?
This movie had a great Spider-Man and Peter Parker, as well as a great villain (I really liked the Vulture here). The bait-and-switch love interest was 'meh', but whatever. However, I subtracted two stars because Tony Star in all of his insufferable post-Civil War arrogance is a completely unnecessary detraction from the movie. I would have subtracted three stars, except the movie itself has some self-awareness of its problem.

This is literally the best movie ever👍🏻👍🏻🤟🏻
By Far The Best
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man nails what I really appreciate about early Spider-Man. He’s just a kid, he’s not saving the world, he’s just trying to prove himself to Tony Stark. Tom Holland also nailed Peter Parker and Spider-Man’s personality. He’s supposed to talk a lot, he’s not serious (not always anyway). Overall, the movie is light years ahead of both The Amazing Spider-Man movies, and the Original Trilogy (as much as I loved Maguire, Holland was too good).

This movie was SO COOL. So much better than the other Spiderman movies!
Best Movie Ever
Tom Holland is the perfect spider man.
What in the blue F@#$K????
This movie is garbage! HOW in the name of all things holy did it get a 92%??!!
It was the comic relief Marvel needed after Civil War. People are upset that it skips over the transformation, but did you really want to see that again? We have two different SpiderMans that show his transformation into the superhero and, frankly, it would have been worse if they had included it. We all know how Peter Parker became SpiderMan so the fact that they left it out was probably for the best.
Also, people aren’t a big fan that Tony Stark gave him the suit instead of him making his own. He did have his own suit and proves that he doesn’t need the new SpiderMan suit, but it adds a new detail to SpiderMan that wouldn’t have been possible without Tony giving him the suit. Could Peter have made such a high tech suit without the resources, even if he is a genius? Probably not. I see it as helping SpiderMan and then expecting him to do his own thing later. This movie is a stepping stone for the next SpiderMan movies, where, and it breaks my heart to say this, Tony Stark might not be around.
Secondly, the comments about the characters? Ned is an actual character from SpiderMan and, sure, the comic book version of him met him after college(I believe), but it adds a new character besides brooding Harry. I love Harry and I’m excited for how he’s going to be portrayed, but he’s not the only friend that Peter Parker is allowed to have.
Everyone saying Michelle is creepy and not like MJ at all? Yeah, I’m glad you noticed. That’s because she’s not MJ. She’s Michelle. They took a step back from the “MJ is in trouble” trope and made Michelle, someone with an interesting personality who hopefully provides more to the story than being Peter Parker’s love interest that needs him to save her all the time. I don’t think the name reveal at the end was supposed to be anything more than a wink to the future.
Seriously, it was a good movie and worth watching. It perfectly portrays Peter Parker and his story while adding a whole new layer to the classic story.
I was looking forward to this movie but it was more like an avengers movie instead of Spider-Man. The villain was bad.
